This Hot Work Permit is required for any temporary operation involving open flames or producing heat and/or sparks. This includes, but is not limited to: Brazing, Cutting, Grinding, Soldering, Thawing Pipe, Torch Applied Roofing and Welding.

CONSTRUCTION ESCORT MUST BE AWARE THAT HOT WORK IS TAKING PLACE. ESCORT HAS RADIO COMMUNICATION WITH OPERATIONS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY

REQUIRED PRECAUTIONS CHECKLIST: To be Filled out by Contractor 

   Available sprinklers, hose streams and extinguishers are in service/operable
   Hot work equipment is in good repair

Requirements within 11 m (35 ft.) of hot work
   Flammable liquids, dust, lint and oily deposits removed
   Explosive atmosphere in area eliminated
   Floors swept clean

   Combustible floors wet down and covered with damp or fire resistive sheets
   Other combustibles removed (if possible) or protected with fire resistive tarps or shields
   All wall and floor openings covered
   Fire resistive tarps suspended beneath elevated work

Work on walls or ceilings
   Construction is non-combustible and without combustible covering or insulation
   Combustibles on other side of walls moved away

Work on enclosed equipment
   Enclosed equipment cleaned of combustibles
   Containers purged of flammable liquids/vapors
   Pressurized vessels, piping and equipment removed from service, isolated and vented

Fire Watch
   Fire Watch will be provided for 30 minutes during and after work, including coffee/lunch breaks
   Fire Watch has suitable fire equipment readily available
   Fire Watch is trained in use of equipment and in sounding alarm
